Our Story

A Name That Means Princess, and Treetop

Both readings sit naturally with what we do — something regal, and the high, unbroken forest canopy that shelters half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

"Ameera" is a name shared across African, Arabic, Hindu and Hebrew traditions, most commonly translated as "princess" — and, in some of those traditions, carrying a second meaning close to "treetop." We chose it deliberately, as a standard to hold ourselves to rather than a decoration.

How We Started

Ameera Africa Safaris was founded in Kampala by a small team of Ugandan travel professionals who had spent years arranging trips for other operators and international agencies before deciding to build something more considered of their own — a company that treats Uganda not as a cheaper add-on to Rwanda or Kenya, but as a complete, world-class safari destination in its own right.

Our Team

Ameera is run day to day by a compact, hands-on team. Zikusoka Sharif leads the company as General Manager; Shiella A. Gabriella designs itineraries as our tour planner; Atuheire Doreen manages the office; and Ssemusu Khamis oversees IT and digital operations. Every client itinerary passes through people who have actually driven these roads and stayed at these lodges.
